Everything comes to a head in New Orleans and I enjoyed the reading ride. Now to see what's in store for the next book, and maybe some more clues as to who the 'bad guy' is ;.
I'm hooked on the new series Killian is head of the vampire coven in New Orleans. One of his vampires, Kenya, has been cursed by a witch and Killian believes it's one of the witches in his city.
The vampires and witches don't mingle but he's desperate to help his friend. Lizzy is new in town. She has no idea she's a witch but Killian senses her magic and is hopeful she can help Kenya.
She doesn't trust him and I'm hooked on the new series Killian is head of the vampire coven in New Orleans. She doesn't trust him and senses there is something different and dangerous about him but she's also drawn to him.
Her world is about to get rocked when she learns witches and vampires are real. Night of the Vampire is the first book I read from this Author. I loved this book and it's an exciting story.
This is a well written paranormal romance with strong characters in Killian and Lizzy. Lizzy is a Witch, but she doesn't know and Killian is an Vampire and needs her help for saving a friend.
How will this going on?? The character are enjoyable and have a strong connection. Oct 14, Brenda Moser rated it it was amazing.
The author does a great job developing their story and pulls you in with her descriptive writing and perfectly painted scenes.

Killian is desperate to save his friend from a deadly curse when he enters a local voodoo shop in search of help.
He doesnt expect to be drawn to Lizzy, the beautiful witch who owns the shop. Lizzie hasnt fully realized her power and doesnt know how she can help Killian and his friend.
However, she cant resist the feelings she Night of the Vampire is an immersive paranormal romance that follows Killian and Lizzy, a vampire and witch who work together to try to save a friend from an evil curse.
Will Lizzy embrace her powers? And can they resist their feelings for each other when fate seems to want them together?
The romance between Killian and Lizzy is chemistry-charged and steamy. They have an intense relationship, and Killian knows from the first meeting that Lizzy is special.
Lizzy, however, takes some persuasion. Because of some terrible happenings in her past, Lizzy hesitates to let Killian get close.
I like that Killian has to work a bit to win Lizzy over. Another highlight of the story is the strong messages about the bonds of friendship and family.
They have a long and complex history, and they value each other. Killian, in particular, is motivated by his love of and loyalty to his friends, and he often puts himself at risk to protect others.
Though he has one friend in this close-knit group that has resentments, their unbreakable bond is always present. I love that Lizzie finds a family in Killian and his clan, which is what she had been missing for most of her life.
Who is targeting them? Will Lizzie and Killian ever catch the evil forces that threaten them? Will Lizzie connect more with her Aunt and work with the coven to develop her skills?
As this is the first novel in the series, I have a feeling all of this and more will be explored in future books. Thanks so much to Netgalley, Everblood Publishing, and the author for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.
Nov 21, Dawn Eggleton rated it it was ok. A book of 2 halves. I really enjoyed the start of this book Vampire Killian walks into a voodoo shop in New Orleans looking for the new witch in town who can save the life of his friend from another witches curse.
Enter Lizzy and her elderly dog Wiggles who not only hasn't got a clue what he is talking about also doesn't believe in magic. The relationship that develops between them is really interesting and a great read and then they discover that they are fated as mates.
Lizzy obviously freaked A book of 2 halves. Lizzy obviously freaked out by this asserts her independence both from him and her aunt who happens to be high priestess of the family coven of witches.
This is where the book deviates and loses its magic. There has been building up about a historical war between the vampires and witches that is suddenly dropped with no further development.
The biggest dissapointment though is plot that had been built through the first two thirds of the story about some danger to Lizzy and the vampires and the need for her to be protected when bam Lizzy and Killian have lots of spectacular sex, danger forgotten apparently and he tries to be noble and send her away to live her dream even though it may kill him.
This to me felt like a huge chunk of the story had either been edited out or a second writer took over. The magical story building between the witches and vampires along with Killian and lizzy was just ended when the sex scenes started and that's when it went from great story to bonk fest.
A few pages at the end setting up the next book and the story of the next character is unfortunately not enough to get me to read as this book left me feeling unsatisfied and that it was unfinished.
Oct 18, Kassandra Blake rated it really liked it Shelves: arc , reviews-done , paranormal-romance. Being a fan of vampires and paranormal romance, I thought to myself that I absolutely had to read this title after reading its synopsis.
The only negative point being the length of the synopsis. The created universe revolves around vampires and witches and the story takes place in New Orleans.
We discover several characters that we appreciate more or less. Killian is the typical alpha male who is used to being obeyed and getting what he wants.
Well, Night of the Vampires conveys powerlessness by making the reader feel powerlessly trapped in a novel where people spend about a third of novel being boring.
The dullness of the middle section really sucks because the whole plot action of characters being stripped of their self control and will is truly terrifying in the abstract.
Too bad the novel only halfway succeeds in getting that point across in a compelling way. Fortunately, the novel picks up in the final inning and that basically wins the game for Giles.
All in all, this isn't a terrible book, its still far more interesting that the crap passing itself as vampire fiction at our contemporary Barnes and Nobles.
I certainly don't regret having read it, but I can't enthusiastically recommend it either. Final verdict, if you see it pick it up, if for nothing else than the great cover.
This book was strange and a little bit all over the place. Also, there are no real vampires in this book. They are witches that have bargained for the power to turn into giant bats.
Another issue is that the book starts with a scene that is interesting and dramatic, but then when we see the characters they are in completely different scenarios and the scene is never again mentioned.
The most interesting character is killed in pretty short order, even though they talk of him having some kind of This book was strange and a little bit all over the place.
The most interesting character is killed in pretty short order, even though they talk of him having some kind of power, but that never happens.
Needless to say that this story is convoluted and feels trite. Vampire bats, werewolves, and witches' covens collide in this crazy late 60s relic.
A group of high school friends with a dark secret are mysteriously drawn back to their hometown after 13 years, and bloody mayhem erupts.

This tale of a Transylvanian count , who uses his supernatural abilities to cause havoc in England, inspired countless works thereafter.
Because there is a long history of walking corpses and bloodsucking ghouls in folklore, it is difficult to pin down a distinct set of characteristics consistently attributed only to vampires.
Central to vampire myth , however, is the consumption of human blood or other essence such as bodily fluids or psychic energy , followed closely by the possession of sharp teeth or fangs with which to facilitate this task.
Vampires are typically said to be of pale skin and range in appearance from grotesque to preternaturally beautiful, depending on the tale. Another frequently cited physical characteristic is the inability to cast a reflection or shadow, which often translates into an inability to be photographed or recorded on film.
A person may become a vampire in a variety of ways, the most common of which is to be bitten by a vampire. Some people believed that babies born with teeth or on Christmas or between Christmas and Epiphany were predisposed to becoming vampires.
While vampires usually do not die of disease or other normal human afflictions , and they are indeed often said to have faster-than-normal healing capabilities, there are various methods for their destruction.
The most popular of those include a wooden stake through the heart , fire, decapitation , and exposure to sunlight. Vampires are often depicted as being repelled by garlic, running water, or Christian implements such as crucifixes and holy water.
In some stories vampires may enter a home only if they have been invited, and in others they may be distracted by the scattering of objects such as seeds or grains that they are compelled to count, thereby enabling potential victims to escape.
Tales of walking corpses that drank the blood of the living and spread plague flourished in medieval Europe in times of disease, and people lacking a modern understanding of infectious disease came to believe that those who became vampires preyed first upon their own families.
Research from the 20th and 21st centuries has posited that characteristics associated with vampires can be traced back to certain diseases such as porphyria , which makes one sensitive to sunlight; tuberculosis , which causes wasting; pellagra , a disease that thins the skin; and rabies , which causes biting and general sensitivities that could lead to repulsion by light or garlic.
Vampire myths were especially popular in eastern Europe, and the word vampire most likely originates from that region.
Digging up the bodies of suspected vampires was practiced in many cultures throughout Europe, and it is thought that the natural characteristics of decomposition—such as receding gums and the appearance of growing hair and fingernails—reinforced the belief that corpses were in fact continuing some manner of life after death.
Also possibly contributing to this belief was the pronouncement of death for people who were not dead.
Belief in vampires led to such rituals as staking corpses through the heart before they were buried. In some cultures the dead were buried facedown to prevent them from finding their way out of their graves."Night of the Vampire" (), by Richard Baker, is the second adventure for the AD&D Mystara line.
